Climate change is already creating climate refugees and some of them are us. And more will be in the future.
This article is from November, 2018. Read it anyway.
Kate Marvel captures and expresses my feelings here:
We need courage, not hope. Grief, after all, is the cost of being alive. We are all fated to live lives shot through with sadness, and are not worth less for it. Courage is the resolve to do well without the assurance of a happy ending. Little molecules, random in their movement, add together to a coherent whole. Little lives do not. But here we are, together on a planet radiating ever more into space where there is no darkness, only light we cannot see.
This is not hyperbole. This is bad news.
It will take all of us (some of us kicking and screaming) to make progress on our intertwined justice goals – environmental, racial, economic, etc.
“We must bring to the table an understanding that we don’t have to agree on every political issue to work together towards building a better future for all of us.“
This needs to be part of the discussion.
